Cleaning prices
Published rates, everything included, and an honest explanation of why the cheapest hourly rate is usually not the cheapest clean.
Domestic cleaning in London typically costs between £18 and £30 an hour depending on the service and the borough. Earnest Care home cleaning starts at £00 per hour with a minimum of 0 hours per visit, and end of tenancy cleaning is fixed-price from £000. Products, equipment and insurance are included in every price.
How much does a cleaner cost in London?
London rates sit well above the national average, and they vary by borough more than most people expect. As a rough guide across the market in 2026, regular domestic cleaning runs between £18 and £30 an hour, deep cleaning slightly above that, and end-of-tenancy work is normally quoted as a fixed price rather than hourly.
Our own rates:
| Service | From | How it is priced |
|---|---|---|
| Regular home cleaning | £00 per hour | Hourly, minimum 0 hours per visit. Weekly is cheaper per hour than fortnightly. |
| Deep cleaning | £00 per hour | Hourly, quoted after we know the size and condition. Usually 5-8 hours. |
| End of tenancy | £000 | Fixed price by number of bedrooms and bathrooms, not hourly. |
| After builders / one-off | £00 per hour | Hourly, quoted on a visit or from photographs. |
| Office & commercial | £00 per hour | Contract, priced on floor area, frequency and hours required. |
| Home help alongside care | £00 per hour | Hourly, and can often be included within a funded care package. |
Rates rise for bank holidays, same-day bookings and properties well outside our core boroughs. All of that is stated in your quote, before you book, never added afterwards.
Why the cheapest hourly rate is usually not the cheapest clean
This is the single most useful thing on this page, so it is worth reading even if you end up booking someone else.
A £15-an-hour cleaner who supplies nothing, needs four hours where another needs three, is uninsured if they break something, and simply does not come the week they are ill, is not cheaper than a £22-an-hour cleaner who brings everything, works to a checklist, and is covered. It only looks cheaper on the invoice.
The four questions worth asking any cleaning company or individual before you book:
- Are products and equipment included, or am I supplying them? A vacuum, cloths and a full set of products is a real cost, and re-buying them is a hidden line in your budget.
- What happens when my cleaner is ill or on holiday? With an individual, the answer is usually that nothing happens and you lose the week.
- Are you insured, and can I see the certificate? Most self-employed cleaners are not. If a radiator gets knocked or a floor gets damaged, that becomes your problem.
- Am I becoming their employer? If you engage someone directly, regularly, and control how and when they work, you may be taking on employment obligations without realising it.
Us, an agency, or someone self-employed
All three are legitimate choices and we are not going to pretend otherwise. A brilliant self-employed cleaner you trust is a genuinely good arrangement, and cheaper than us. Here is the honest comparison so you can decide.
| Earnest Care | Cleaning agency | Self-employed cleaner | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Headline hourly rate | Middle | Highest | Lowest |
| DBS checked | Always | Sometimes | Rarely |
| Insured | Yes, fully | Usually | Often not |
| Cover when they are ill | Yes | Yes | No |
| Products and equipment | Included | Sometimes charged | Usually yours |
| Same cleaner each time | Yes | Often not | Yes |
| Who is liable if something breaks | Us | The agency | You, in practice |
| Employment responsibility | Ours | The agency's | Potentially yours |

How to get an accurate quote
Tell us the property
Number of bedrooms and bathrooms, roughly how it is laid out, and whether there are stairs, pets or anything unusual.
Tell us the condition, honestly
Nobody is judging. A house that has not had a proper clean in two years needs a deep clean first, and it is better for both of us that we know before we arrive rather than after.
Send photographs if you can
Two or three phone photos of the kitchen and bathroom get you a far more accurate quote than any description.
We quote in writing
Fixed price for one-off jobs, hourly with an estimated duration for regular work. Free, and with no obligation.
